Melbourne pop songstress Maddison Wilson has announced the release date for her brand new single, Birds (October 29).

After an extremely special and successful launch for her single 'Higher' earlier this year - Wilson snuck back into the studio to record her third single and promises it's bigger and better than her previous projects.

"Birds is my most creative and probably my most personal project yet" - Wilson speaks openly about the new single. "Birds represents the fear in change and the challenges we are faced with when a new world is presented to us. At the time Birds was written, I was going through a bit of a rough patch. I'd moved out of home and some personal events changed the way viewed well... life. I believe the song came to me as a way of processing that time and that change."

The track was recorded at Black Pearl studio's with engineer/producer Terry Hart. The single is part of an up and coming body of work Wilson hopes will free her from what she likes to acknowledge as a "quarter life crisis".

"Musically, it's a real tearjerker. I mean, I was balling my eyes out when I wrote the bloody thing. It is a very personal song so I really wanted to enhance the already existing emotion that lies in the vocal. I think the strings really capture that. Terry took the song to a whole new level of sadness with the the string arrangement." Wilson giggles.

The physical release of Birds also features a phenomenal remix by London based producer Dan Villalobos.

"When I got the remix back from Dan I was blown away by all the different elements. I was captivated from beginning to end and it was clear that it was more than just a remix. I really wanted to give the audience something different and felt releasing the two versions together was the best way for everyone to get the full Birds experience."

With an album promised for the near future, Wilson is hitting the writing desk for the rest of 2014 and will be putting together a debut EP early in 2015.

The Birds release promises drama, intensity and a new beginning.
